Mary Matthews, age 91, of Pikeville, TN, died Tuesday, August 2, 2022.
She was of the Baptist faith and attended First Southern Baptist Church. She liked to be on the lake fishing and was a die-hard UT fan and Nascar fan.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Mel Matthews; parents, Earl and Elizabeth Howser; sisters, Lorraine Brewer, Betty Jean Pruitt, Margaret Sullivan and Judy Smith; brothers, Frank Howser, Harold Howser, Earl Howser, Jr. and Bill Howser.
She is survived by her children, Karen Cagle of Pikeville, Eddie (Shirri) Pruitt of Pikeville and Betty Howser of Rock Island, TN; grandchildren, Matt (Lacey) Walker of Pikeville, Ann (D.J.) Campbell of Dunlap, William Pruitt of Dunlap, Adam (Brooke) Pruitt of Pikeville and Missy (Carl) Bennett of Rock Island; several great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; sister, Elaine Richardson of Rock Island; brother, Randall (Jean) Howser of Pikeville; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held Sunday, August 7, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. CDT at Pikeville Cemetery. Burial will be in Pikeville Cemetery. Online condolences can be made at www.reedfamilyfh.com. Arrangements by Putnam-Reed Funeral Home, Pikeville, TN. Visitation will be held Saturday, August 6, 2022 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. CDT. In honor of Ms. Mary’s memory, the family asks you to feel free to wear orange and white to the service.
